Started serious violin study rather late in life after getting into medical school of Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. Studied violin in Japan with Kazuhiko Kitamoto in Sapporo, Hideyuki Nimura in Tokyo, and Ryutaro Iwabuchi and Yuji Tohgi in Kyoto. Was a member of the Sapporo Radio Broadcasting Orchestra, the Sapporo Baroque Ensemble, and the City University of Kyoto Fine Arts and Music Orchestra. Was a Concertmaster of the Hokkaido University Orchestra and All Japan University Orchestra. Continued private violin lessons with Margaret Purdee, Rachmael Weinstock and Kevin Lawrence after immigrating to the US in 1972. Previously a member of the Rosetti String Quartet. Founder of the Lake George Chamber Orchestra and music director presently. Maintains busy practice of medical oncology. Other hobbies include Chinese calligraphy, helicopter skiing and gardening.
