Eric Jacobsen

Eric Jacobsen began his cello studies at the age of four with Laura Epstein at the School for Strings and then continued at the Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division with Ardyth Alton. He received his Bachelor of Music degree at Juilliard, where he studied with David Soyer and Harvey Shapiro. Mr. Jacobsen organizes a chamber ensemble, The Knights, which performs concerts in and around New York as a chamber orchestra and smaller ensembles. Since 2002, he has been regularly featured at Bargemusic and has appeared as a soloist with the Chamber Soloists of Austin, the Riverside Orchestra, and has recently been featured with the Greenwich Village Orchestra. Mr. Jacobsen has appeared with Renee Fleming at the opening of Zanek Hall, at Carnegie Hall, and on the Late Show with David Letterman. In coordination with the Silk Road Project, he performed with Yo Yo Ma in a concert involving the music of Roma. Mr. Jacobsen plays a Bernadus Calcanius cello crafted in 1744.
